Exciting Times!
The adrenaline levels increase the closer we get to the 23rd April. The recent Ambassadors meeting in Cardiff provided many helpful ideas and suggestions about NTA 2010. These included some focussing of the content of the Information Sessions and ways of using personal contacts and networks to 'spread the word'.
We (the NTA team) need your help to make 2010 a record year for the quantity and quality of Welsh entries. We know that we were under-represented in the 2009 competition, and the Judges were only able to award two UK National Training Awards. We also know that you are busy, and probably have many priorities to deal with.
So, as a minimum, can you make contact with at least 5 organisations and/or individuals who you think are potential entrants. This will hopefully generate more entries and you can take pride in knowing you helped a winner. The team can provide you with support materials or are happy to follow up any leads you provide us with (after you've been in contact with the potential entrant please).
If the enthusiasm and interest shown at information sessions translates into entries, this year will be not just good, but great. If we all continue to do our part!!
Thank you for your continuing support

Training to Improve Diets in Wales
With statistics showing that approximately 50,000 children in Gwent are living on the brink of poverty and at risk from poor dietary intake, the NHS Trust realised that there was a need for improved dietetic advice. A project was set up to increase dietetic capacity in the community through utilising experts to train and develop health and social care professionals on food and nutrition skills.
Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust is an organisation which employs 12,500 people and cares for a population of 600,000 over a wide geographical area in South East Wales. The Gwent Community Nutrition Education Programme was set up to address the need for community based nutrition education. The remit of the programme was to provide a 'train the trainer' cascade model for standardised nutrition education covering the whole of Gwent.
